In May 2019, AFD China and Capital Intellectual Property Services Association joined hands to fund students with financial difficulties from remote area

The significance of philanthropy lies in perseverance. Following the joint charity project in 2008, AFD China joined hands with the Capital Intellectual Property Services Association once again to raise funds to improve the living conditions and education of school-age children in Wingwen County.

The Association planned to fund a total of 60 children this time, each of whom has his/her own difficulties in life. Some of the children lost their parents and live with their relatives, some of them have no sources of family income because their parents are severely ill or disabled, and some of them have too many siblings and thus their families could not afford to support them. The children we funded are those about to enter into adulthood and to complete college or vocational education and are soon able to financially support their families. We hope that through hard study in school, they will live up to expectations and bring about significant changes to their life of poverty and hardship, and become self-dependent, self-esteemed pillars of the family and of our country.

This time, we funded to cover 11 teenagers’ study costs and living expenses of 2019. We hope that this small act of kindness can help them build a bright future.

As the old saying goes, "read ten thousand books, walk ten thousand miles". Since ancient times, reading has been an important way to widen one’s knowledge. For children in cities, it may be very easy and common to have the opportunity to study but for children in poor areas, it is a most extravagant dream. In the books, the world on the other side of the mountain and outside the village is slowly presented to the children between the lines, which makes them develop a deep desire to go out. However, their ambitions and hopes gradually die away due to their limited conditions. Perhaps as bystanders there is little we can do, but if we, within our reach, help them clear away some obstacles that stand in their way to a bright future, then we might do our bit in taking the social responsibility of an enterprise.

We will continue to care about the children in need of help, not only about the poverty in their lives, but also about the poverty of their spiritual world. We also hope that more and more people will join us in charity activities and enable those children to lay a foundation for their dreams with knowledge.
